As the medical profession was unable to offer Chris any hope of recovery, he decided to take matters into his own hands and at least aim for the highest possible quality of whatever life he had left. He saw an advertisement for Reiki, and was attuned to levels 1 & 2. This introduced him to an awareness of his Spirituality, which he pursued keenly. Three months passed; six months and he was still handing out leaflets.
Unfortunately, his money was running out fast, so he used the last of his funds to start a small business for himself making candle and T-shirts with a “World Peace” logo on them. These he sold on street corners to finance the printing of leaflets and to pay for his rent and food.
One year passed; two years; three years and Chris was still handing out leaflets and selling candles and T-shirts. He was at a social event one evening where he met the doctor who had diagnosed his illness 3 years earlier. The doctor was astounded to see Chris, not only alive, but apparently quite well. He convinced Chris to admit himself to hospital for tests; everyone was amazed to find that all traces of Leukemia had disappeared.
Some time passed; the Dalai Llama was visiting London on a lecture tour. Chris went along to hear him speak, and afterwards went backstage. Chris explained his story to the Dalai Lama’s helpers and asked for and was granted an audience for the following day. Chris arrived for his appointment with one of his hand made candles; he asked the Dalai Lama to light the candle and dedicate it to World Peace with the intention that all candles lit from that one would carry with them this blessing and dedication. At midnight January 1st 2000 Chris asked that these candles be re-lit in the name of World Peace. By January 1997 thousands of candles had been lit from the original and were taken to at least 5 different countries (today they are spread a lot further) The thought was that if this story and the flame is shared by all those who come into contact with it, by January 2000 millions of people all over the world will be lighting their candles and directing their energies to the concept of World Peace.
Imagine if you will the awesome power generated by such an act, and the positive impact this could have on humanity. Perhaps you have thought “I am only one person, how could I make a difference?” Here is your answer. Positive changes on a global scale need only require a small effort by individuals; this is your chance to participate.
January 1, 2000 came and the result was astounding, the energy breathtaking, so now we continue with the intention of creating World Peace.
